Post 65-Happy Birthday Lucille

Today is Lucille Balls birthday.I love Lucille Ball and I'm very excited to be doing my blog on her today! Lucille Désirée Ball was born on August 6th,1911 in Jamestown,New York. From the start Lucille Ball wanted to become an actress and as a child dreamed of working on Broadway and was always looking for opportunitys. Right after Lucy was born her family moved to Montana and then to Michigan. Then when she was very young her father died and her Mom,Brother and her moved to Celoron,New York were she lived with her grandparents and family.Four years after her dads death her Mom got remarried to Edward Peterson and moved in with her step-fathers parents. Her new grandparents were a puritanical Swedish couple that was so opposed to frivolity that they banished all mirrors in the house except for the one in the bathroom.Because of this and the fact that her parents were working all the time she was always craving for praise and recognition from her family and tried to do everything she could to get it.She loved acting when she was a kid and wanted to do as her career and did. When she was younger she did some modeling and was trying to get on Broadway but kept on getting fired and had no luck.So at the age of 23 she moved to Hollywood permanently to pursue her dream. She got small parts in films and was in a lot of B-films.But she never really got any big staring roles in any movies.Lucille did radio work to earn income and was in a lot of radio shows. But she didn't get famous until she starred in the movie Lover Come Back.

After that she was in a radio program for CBS which became very successful and they asked if she could make it into a television show. She agreed but only if her husband and her played the wife and husband in the show and they agreed to the deal. They named the show the I Love Lucy show. The I Love Lucy show was a raining success and lasted 6 years with 180 shows. She did many other television shows with her production company and did many sequel shows to the I love Lucy show including Here Lucy and Life with Lucy.(Desilu Productions company). She other roles in lots of other films after the Lucy Show but was forever known as Lucy. She always very funny and always could make you like. She died on April 26,1989 to an Dissecting aortic aneurysm. She was 77 years old and her show is know the best comedy television series of the 20th century. She is one of the top hundred women to remember in the 20th century and I love her!
