Post 110-Merry Christmas

Today is Christmas and many kids will be waking up to getting presents and candy from "Santa". But for millions of kids there is no Santa. There is no presents,no Christmas tree,or no Christmas  Not just no Christmas on the day but no Christmas the whole year. Many children all around the world don't have clean water,a roof over there head,or food to eat. Many parents are just barely getting by to pay the bills(most already probably in debt). And so these kids all around the world will not get a present today or tomorrow  But just because these kids don't get a present today doesn't mean you can't still give them a present. You can give them a present any day of the year. Wither its giving to a world organization or to a local organization. Wither you give food to a homeless person or dropping a toy into the next years toys for tots bin,you will give an less fortunate child a toy and give them a smile on their face that's priceless. So today Merry Christmas! And remember to be very thankful for what you have.Today my quotes will be about Christmas!

"Maybe Christmas, the Grinch thought, doesn't come from a store." -Dr. Seuss

"Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas."-Calvin Coolidge

"Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it's Christmas."-Dale Evans

Post 107-Happy Birthday Trisha Brown

Today is Trisha Browns birthday.I love Trisha Brown in so many ways even though I just learned who she is thanks to Google! Trisha Brown was born on November 25th,1936 in Aberdeen, Washington. She went to Mills College and studied dance, earning her B.A. degree. She also later earned her D.F.A from Bates College. After studying with several dancers and artists such as,Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs, and David Gordon she in 1970 formed the Trisha Brown Dance Company. Her company became one of the most leading Contemporary dance ensembles in New York.

Accumulation piece

Her early choreography was very different from anyone else in the 70s and it was also GENIUS!  She created dances included having equipment such as an harness or rope. She made choreography that went above and beyond the theory of gravity.A couple of her pieces were Walking on the Wall (1971), Roof Piece (1971), and Accumulation (1971). All these pieces were meant to be done out in public in certain places. My favorite out of the three is Roof piece which is done with twelve people, taking place on twelve different rooftops in Soho,New York. Each dancer transmits moves onto the dancer on the nearest roof. Since the 1970s she has been credited for making and putting on stage more than 30 pieces and has also been recognized by the governor of France, many museums, and art committees. In 2000 she was inducted into the National Museum of Dance's Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2002 as well as many other things.

Today I am very thankful for Trisha. She has inspired me like no other. She has inspired me to dance with my movements and to just let it out and I thank her for that. I also thank God and her parents for her birth because if she hadn't been born me and many others would have never been inspired. Today I celebrate her birthday and hope she lives to inspire many others for many more years! Happy Birthday Trisha Brown!!!

Post 106-Happy Birthday Mom!!!!!!

My Moms birthday is today!!!!! Shes 31!!!(we'll just say that's the age.... ;) ) So today I want my blog to be about her! My mom is amazing. She has always been there for me and my siblings. As a single parent with twins(Sarah and I),A boy(11,Nate,my step-brother),And a little girl(8,Alexandra,my step-sister and a handful!) she has raised us well! She has kept food in our tummies,a roof over our head, and clothes on our bodies as well has giving us things we want...not everything...but almost, I applaud her for that!!!! For making sure we kept our grades up and trying to get to know who our teachers at least were(kinda hard to do with twins in 8th grade-both of us have totally separate teachers-with a middle schooler and one still in elementary.) I thank her and feel grateful for that, even if she often can't remember their names. The support she gives us with everything we do in school and in life is amazing. I thank her most for her support with my sister and I as we have done band since sixth grade and she has supported me very much the last two years with my decision to try out for all-district band. And I made it last year and plan to audition this year! For the endless Christmas concerts, gallons of milk and boxes of Ritz, for the dramatic stomps up the stairs and for the roof over my head today I say I love you mommy and I will always love You!!!!! And last but not least....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

Post 105-Happy Birthday Rita Hayworth

Today is the amazing Rita Hayworths birthday! Margarita Carmen Cansino was born in Brooklyn,New York on October 17th,1918.She was from a very musical Spanish family. Her Dad,Uncle, and Grandfather were all dancers and her Mom loved to act.As soon as she could walk she was given lessons by her uncle. She attended dance classes for years. In 1927 her family moved to Hollywood and her father( Eduardo Cansino, Sr) started a dance studio, her father thinking that they could have more of an opportunity in Hollywood. When the great depression hit they lost all their investments and dancing classes waned. Her and her father ended up having to partner up and go to work.As Rita was too young to work in nightclubs and bars by California Law, They had to go across the border to Mexico to work.Due to her work Rita never finished High School, only going to the ninth grade. In 1935 she was seen by Winfield Sheehan while performing in a nightclub and arranged for her to do a screen-test with Fox Film Corporation.Sheehan signed her for a short term,six-month contract with fox under the name of Rita Cansino. From there on she went on to be in 61 films in over 37 years.Out of 61 my two favorite being You'll Never Get Rich and Cover Girl. She is a very inspiring dancer and actress and I love her.She appeared in Life magazine and worked with people such as Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. She lived to be 68,dieing on May 14,1987 but her love, passion, and dancing will live on forever. She inspires me to work hard for what I want, not to give up,and that you should always give love to those who need it.Today in honor of her birthday my quotes will be from her.
