Post 91-Happy Birthday Romare
Today is the amazing Romare Beardens birthday. He is one of my favorite artist and I love his work.He was born on September 2,1911 in Charlotte, North Carolina. His family moved to New York when he was a toddler.Twenty-Four years later he graduated from New York University with a degree in Science and Education. He decided to focus more on art and studied with German artist George Grosz at the Art Students League in 1936 and 1937.He wasn't a well known artist until the early sixties. He is very well known for his piece the Crucifixion. He's also well known for his collages.I love Romares artwork and think he is an amazing African-American artist. He is like no other artist because every single day his vision of art changed. He took his experiences in life and turned them into art works. He is truly one of the most amazing artists and one of my favorites and today to celebrate Romare Beardens birthday my quotes will be from him.
"What you don't need is just as important as what you do need."-Romare Bearden
"Artists have this desire for a vision of the world... There's some painting someplace that's not in a museum and it's your idea as a painter to put that one thing that is missing there."-Romare Bearden
"Painting is the act of discovery and you're constantly enlarging your horizon or finding yourself every time you paint. "-Romare bearden
